Stunning black dot Georgian paste buckles. These incredible paste shoe buckles are large in size and set in silver. Originally these buckles would have sat on beautiful shoes. The buckles work beautifully as a belt or bracelet, simply slip through a velvet ribbon for something different. These could even be worn in the hair for a special occasion.
Buckles have be worn on shoes since the Medieval times although became very fashionable in the mid-17th century. By the 1720s shoe buckles become widespread, please see the attached picture to see an example.
